Stepping the mast

This is our first season with this boat, bought craddled on the hard.  I'm needing information about slinging the mast and tuning the standing rig.

We strapped at the spreaders to lift to list the mast off the step.  That is not the balance point and the base will swing up when it come free from the step.  

The Manual has a page of instructions for tuning the standing rigging

We will be raising the mast, and as of yet do not have the manual.  Is there an order to attaching the shrouds & stays, that makes the process go smoothly.

The 4 lower shrouds will hold the mast up until you get the stays and uppers attached , then tune it .
