QuoteWhat is a dollar worth? The way I figure it, the two winches cost about $75 in 1963's money.

Fair enough.

:)

Mind if I borrow that?

what they tell us to do to find the price today of an Ariel that cost $5000 in 1965 is divide the Consumer Price Index of 1965 into the CPI of 2004 and multiply that result by five grand.

5000 X 2004CPI/1950CPI.   CPI for 1965 is 31.5   CPI for 2004 is 187.3

About $30,000.

So $2000 in Andersen winches by reversing the formula (31.5 divided by 187.3 = .168
times $2000 = $336 in 1965 bucks.

Don't think it makes me feel any better.  Wasn't very inflated back then either.:p
