Winch handle foundry marks

Ariel list members,

I found my winch handle in a box of gear from the prior owner.
I had looked all over the boat for this item.  
Was I ever surprised when inspecting
it to read in the casting,

"MADE IN ALVISO BY HIPPIES"

Okay is this something someone else has seen?

Or is this a rare item.

Mine say only "South Coast"

I believe there were "afermarket" handle suppliers at one time.
