Last week my brother-in-law asked me to find an Ariel or a Commander for him. Too bad Mike Goodwin sold his goodboat "Faith", A #45. I found this ol' Pearson lady and have been talking to the owner. My problem is that I like the boat, nice lines, clean bottom, gally, more room, good deck space, good sails, engine checks out, good color...etc...it's got me thinking...am I looking at this beauty for myself?

Yeah, but how could you sail around in a boat named Chikara?   :D

PS. Tritons are pretty, aren't they?

You are so right Commanderpete, what was I thinking. I couldn't set my Commander aside, it's now like one of the family and a work in progress that I enjoy very much.Besides I'm now getting in some sail time and that is a whole lot more fun than getting the boat were you want it. mrgstrn, please send me a private message with imfo on your Ariel and I will send it along to Richard. Like me Richard isn't planning on crossing any Oceans anytime soon and an Ariel or a Commander is a wonderful boat just the right size for our waters.   Thanks.

I have put some money down on a 1975 Pearson 26, for my brother-in-law. It has a cast iron keel. The boat is in good condition, and get this, one of the speaders, the same one that was broken on my Commander, is broken on this boat. What are the odds! The boat has just about everything imaginable. I did some reading up on this boat, it was made with an aluminum rudder shaft. I inspected the rudder for play, it seems ok, very little wobble. I think to be safe that the rudder bearings should be replaced and the shaft inspected. The boat should be a great weekender for him and his family. From everything that I have read it is a safe boat with a good record. Will pull the boat next year and remove and fiber glass in the through hulls and speedo, as I will own half the boat and don't trust through hulls and 30 y/o sailboats. Any thoughts?

Dan Pfeiffer has a really good P26 site for his ex-P26 - Pyxis.

And here are his P26 MAINTENANCE AND DESIGN ISSUES  from the above page.

PS. Glad you listened to C-Pete's voice of reason.  Your Commander is a gem!
