dingy storage

I am considering the purchase of a dingy for my cruising plans.  I want the ability to store it onboard but with the size of an Ariel this seems to be a challenge.  I would probably tow the dink whenever appropriate and possible, but the concept of onboard storage is important to me.  My questions: who has what for a dingly and how have you approched this problem?

It seems that even the smallest dinghy would completely cover the foredeck, which doesn't seem too safe.

Yeah, you're right about that.  I am considering a small inflatable with a roll-up floor that has an inflatable V-shaped hull.  This way I can store it in a cockpit lazarette.

The ladies usually prefer a hard dink for their tenders.

For a nice, small, inexpensive, inflatable you might try a Bombard
Mini. Its a roll-up, weighs less than 35lbs and as it is only 6'11"
will fit on your foredeck inflated or easily in the cockpit locker, rolled up.
Its very small and only rows one comfortably but you can squeeze
3 adults under power. Stated capacity is a shade under 500lbs.
Defender is clearing them out at under $600.00. These
dinghy's are well made and come in red or grey. Avoid black rubbing
strakes as over time, they will leave marks on the hull. No smilies
for the Buccaneer!
