Technical / Hull square footage

I am about to paint the bottom of my Commander.  What is the underwater square footage of a Commander hull?  This would help me in ordering the right amount of paint.

Technical / Big jibs
March 10, 2008, 04:59:21 PM
I have Commander 216.  I use a J-80 150 jib. and it does great. I like Mike Goodwin's response.  When the wind pipes up, the first thing I do is reef and we really go fast.  The boat behaves and does not round up.  We also have lots of trophies to back up the use of the jib.  I hardly ever reef up through 18 knots of wind.  The sheeting is right beside the cockpit.  The boat came with genoa track running the full length of the cockpit.  That's exactly where the genoa sheets to. About 2 feet aft of the cabin  then up to the primary wench.  Hope this helps.

Technical / cove stripe
March 18, 2004, 12:40:40 PM
I am painting the freeboard on my Commanger 212.  I want to add a cove strip similar to that shown in the gallery on the Italian Commanger or hull 376.  Did Pearson ever incorporate a specific style for these strips on any of their boats.  I have noticed that some manufacturers use a certain style on all of their boats.  You can tell who the manufacturer is just by looking at the bow.

Technical / Painting topsides
October 02, 2002, 06:07:01 PM
I am restoring Commander 212.  The topsides and non-skid have been painted and are waring through in many places.  Spray painting seems to be expensive and dangerous.  Is brush painting advisable?  Also, does anyone have recommendations on paint brands and/or tips on painting.

Technical / Sail dimensions and Sailmakers
June 13, 2002, 06:29:34 PM
1. What are the technical sail dimensions for a Commander.  The sailmakers want to know the I, IC, J, JC, P, E, PY, and EY.
2.  Does anyone have recommendations on sailmakers?
3. Any ideas on using a low cut 110.  Looks like you would need a new track on the deck.
4. Has anyone tried a 130?

Technical / trailers Ariel/Cmdr
May 08, 2002, 10:56:35 AM
I have just purchased a Cmdr with no trailer.  The boat is in the water at a mooring.  I will be using a Catalina-27 trailer to pull the boat but have no idea on how to adjust the supports.  How should the bolster pads be positioned for a Cmdr?  Does anyoue have a picture of a trailer or some cursory diminsions I could use?  Any info would be appreciated.
