Hi Jim, I was looking at #286, the title was said to be 1966 also, I did not see the title, however it the source was good.  I had wondered about that too.
Good luck with your boat.

Have an Oday 22, will probably move to an Ariel in the not so distant future.

Hi folks, I am looking at Hull#286.  What year would that be please?
And I know I read somewhere what the difference in an Ariel and Commander interior was?
Thanks

Technical / Trailer Discussions

Hi Bill no disrespect meant here.  The brochure didn't help.  As to trailers, I know all about them.  The question is this; do you put most of the weight on the keel when transporting or a fraction of it?
And I still don't know if the keel is bolted on or if it one in which the lead is encapsulated in the fiberglass?
Thanks a ton!

Technical / Trailering Ariel
June 17, 2006, 08:17:55 PM
Hi folks, may purchase Ariel #286 or 386, (He said it is a 66 and the hull # is 285, I think that number would be #386)...anyway here is my question.
On my Oday 22 almost all of the weight when trailering goes on the keel, the sideboards are only there to support the hull side to side, there is very little weight on them.  Is that the way you would also transport an Ariel?
Next question...is the keel bolted or it is similar to the Oday, there the lead is encased in the fiberglass?
Thanks in advance.
I am hoping to be an Ariel owner soon, if so will join your lively little crew!

PS...Looking at the boat tomorrow!

Technical / Outboard well.

Hi folks, new to this forum.  Am looking at what I am told is a 66 Ariel in Chicago this weekend.  (He says the hull number is 286, however that would be low for a 66 I think?)
My question is this...does the motor swing up and then down into the well easy or fast?  I have not been able to tell looking at the limited photos I have seen.  Of course Sunday I will know, I will have seen it.
I own an Oday 22 now that is several months away from sailing.  This boat could go in the water in a few days...plus I like the fact I can stand up in it.
Anyway, thanks in advance for your answers!
