i made a purchase on a storm jib for my 20'(which i used quite a bit) from the sail warehouse(//www.thesailwarehouse.com)....on my ariel the main and jib are new, from Halsey Sails, haven't used them yet, but i plan on purchasing a new genny from them(sail warehouse) and will let you know how it performs....$835; triple stitched, tell tales, draft stripes, 5 oz....the whole nine yards...although you boys from cali are going to have to pay 7.25% sales tax(if you get it delivered to ca.)...

If you consult catalogues by harken/ronstan they contain schematics(rather cro-magnon but still deliver the concept) that take most of the guesswork out of purchase questions...I agree with what was mentioned before regarding the cunningham eliminating the downhaul(if your boom won't lift then)....although if you race an ariel you might have to have the mainsail set a certain distance down from the masthead(i know thats the case w/olson 30's on SF bay) and the downhaul might help you better with this.....anyway consult the catalogues they give good ideas...

Anyone out there know of a home remedy to clean the compass lens....mine(bulkhead mounted) is a bit foggy and it's not the fluid...i remember reading about it somewhere and never wrote it down....i want to say vinegar can clean the lens, but just don't remember...

Technical / Volvo MD6A inboard

Just wondering if anybody who has this volvo engine can tell me if there are any zincs located on the engine.  I have a workshop manual booklet(which might be different to the owners manual) that does not depict any zincs on the motor....if I am correct they should be zinc pencil bolts that screw into the engine.....maybe the exhaust manifold????
