My boat doesn't have one of those but has some wood that will need to be replaced very soon. Good idea on that bracket. Time to go to the machine shop.

I worked for Roger Macgreggor on the 65' "daysailor" many years ago as the asembly foreman.  l learned quite a bit about boat construction and how to do or not do. At night I took a few classes on yacht design from Crealock and other Pacific Seacraft designers. Needless to say Roger did not agree with my suggestions on how to build a better boat. We parted ways but the skills and knowledge gained from working for a production boatbuilder helps with my new Commander projects.

He does fill a niche very well and has made a very nice living. His daughter and son in law taught me to sail and introduced me to racing on their Burns 30 "Skidoo" which was featured in "Woodenboat" #81. When it came time to own another boat affter my Thistle I chose a 40 year old Commander for it lines and solid construction.

General/Off-Topic / Commander on eBay

I had the privilege to purchase Commander Hull#233 from Sean. I've been looking for the right sailboat all summer.  We looked at Capri 30's, a CF 27, Santana 30's etc but the Commander meets all my families' needs for a nice safe daysailer with perhaps a trip to the islands a few times a year. This group was a great resource in making my buying decision and I expect will continue to be. I'll continue to race on other peoples boats to satisfy my need to go really fast and break things but will also do some local races with my boys on our boat. Let's see if we beat our PHRF rating and get some respect for a vintage design. My sons are 6 & 9 and hopefully will get infected with the "disease" of boating just like the rest of us.

Sean,
Please feel free to come sailing with us at anytime. It would be our pleasure.
