Ahoy Stephen,
If you're hauling out at Larson's tell the folks there that the Fauls and Faith miss them (but not the Chicago winter!)  My family and I made that September or October (and occasionally November) sail every year for 30 years - once or twice in the snow!  Lake Michigan is the greatest sailing ground there is, if only for 5 months a year.
Have a good winter!
Sean

Ahoy all!
I've been away for a bit and missed all of you on the site!  But I come bearing gifts: the Faith is featured in the Dispatch section of the November issue of BWS Magazine.  For those who followed our journey from Chicago to San Francisco Bay I thought it might be kind of neat to see the article in print.  Thanks again and again, and sail on!
Sean

Sailing and Events / New Updates!
September 27, 2005, 04:03:43 PM
Ahoy, all!
Just wanted to share the new updates (long in coming, much to my chagrin) at larkoffaith.com go to the Ships Log.  The rest of the journey will be forthcoming over the next week or two and updates will be available every day or two.  I and my crew appreciated your support much more than you'll ever know.  In many ways it kept us going - it gave us another reason to make the voyage happen.
Also, I wanted to answer a couple of queries:
Yes, the boat is older than all of us except Brian, who's got five years on her.
Sean writes the log with help from the crew for getting the exact details  exactly detailed.
Yes, we will be putting it out as a book with about twice as much material as the log contains...you know, all the juicy details we left out due to time and taste.
Lastly, all of you Pearson owners are sailing the finest boats ever built in their class!  Fair winds, Amigos!

Sailing and Events / Thanks for your support!

Hello all!
We love the fact that other Pearson owners have keyed into the journey!  We have been sailing through hurricane season (yes, Eric, we've researched this transit ;) and are on the way to Baja tomorrow.  New updates were posted yesterday, more to follow when we get to Cabo San Lucas.  Any of you in California who might be interested in meeting up with us?  Just leave a message on our message board!  We'd love to sail with a sistership!
Fair winds and following seas!

Sailing and Events / Small Boat.....Big Cojones

Commander Pete,
The Captain and Crew of the Faith would like to say thanks for your support!
And we'd like to conjecture that an Alberg designed hull can CERTAINLY stand the strains and stresses of a little dip for the combings now and then.... Sure it's frightening when a fifth of your normally admergent hull gets a slight sluice - but it's gold to stand perpendicular to the normally vertical deck!  Now, keep in mind, this isn't a bathtub - the kids aren't invited (if aboard, keep them below - I can remember looking out the portholes of Faith directly into the deep blue at age 6) but by all means the boat can handle it.  We've taken the 70 degree heel, all hands alert (which means hanging on with a will), multiple times in the last few weeks, not to mention the last 40 years.  It's not a question of structural integrity, it's a question of trust in the guy on the tiller.  Hurrah!!!   or   Ahhh!!!
We prefer the Hurrah angle: warnings first, good grips second, leeward rinse third.
It's not brave if you know what you're doing - it's fun!
It's not brave if you don't know what you're doing - it's lunacy.
Don't scare the crew...unless they pay you to...
Sean
