Hello Ariel and Commander friends.

Some of you may already know that my dad, Bill Phelon, had been fighting a losing battle with late stage IV colon cancer since his diagnosis around June of 2022.

Unfortunately, after a long fight he died yesterday peacefully and among friends.

He put a lot of time and effort into helping to grow and maintain the Ariel/Commander association and we're hoping there is someone in the community who would be interested in taking things over and continuing the legacy.

Please let me know if you are interested, or if you might know someone who is.

Thank you,

Bill

Kurt,

Thanks for the little icon for the board. I will put that in our directory when I can.

Gallery / The Italian Commander
January 02, 2004, 01:45:58 PM
I just got a message from the owner of this boat:

il Commander Italiano che avete visto nelle foto è mio....mi ha fatto molto piacere trovare in questo sito foto della mia barca. volevo inoltre farvi sapere che è in vendita.

Thanks
 Rino anello

I used Google to translate the message since I don't know Italian, so the translation is a little off, but I think you can get the meaning.

the Italian Commander that you have seen in the photos is mine... mi has made much pleasure to find in this situated photo of my boat wanted moreover makes you to know that it is in sale.

Its cool that he came forward to let us know. :)

If people are interested, maybe Rino can offer more information about the boat.

Thanks Ed for the kudos!

It was pretty exciting to actually come in within the top two boats for once...

The new sails make a HUGE difference in the way the boat handles and how it points.

Well, I hope this isnt the last win for us. Only more races will tell.

Technical / Should we make a Gallery forum?

The forum won't let me vote. "Session invalid." It seems I've been stripped of my voting privileges.

Try logging out/resetting cookies and then logging in again. I checked your profile and saw nothing that should cause a problem.

well, most of the galleries are of someone re-doing, re-building, etc and spur a number of technical questions about how that particular owner is doing something or why.

the only galleries that make sense to separate are the "look how pretty my boat is" kind. which we seem to have many fewer of than the "look at how i destroyed my boat" type.

maybe a compromise would be to not put the pics in another place, but instead creat some sort of index (that's what we really need)

bill, is that possible? A forum that just lists all the galleries and then links/sends you to the technical thread, with all it's associated discussion. and let the pics reside in the technical arena (well, those as described above about re-building, etc)

maybe the new forum can do both, hold the "pretty boat" pics and link one to the "torn up boat" pics.

just a though.

but i do really like the idea of at least a single place to go to find pics

Very good point. I did some research with your suggestions in mind and found some interesting ideas:

PhotoPost
PhotoPost features and cost

They have some links to sites using photo post as well.

Technical / Should we make a Gallery forum?

I noticed a number of photo threads througout the site. I can create a new forum that is dedicated to photos. Let me know what you think.

Thanks

Technical / Threads of note

Please post links to threads here that you feel should be noted for the technical section. This way we can compile a list for newer members to peruse and reduce the number of redundant questions.

Another option is to email the thread to me and I can include it in the list.

To email the thread go to the bottom of a page and click on the email link (circled in red):

You mean I get rewarded for my idiotic blathering?

:D   You get rewarded for whatever nonsense you post. There are four levels you can achieve (for now). You will have to find out what they are though.

To lose the "Newbie" status, you have to reach a number of posts. I think the next level is 10 or 20 posts.

Edit: Smily is not working! :Ugh:
