General/Off-Topic / Wobbly is for sale!
May 18, 2015, 03:41:12 PM
Pearson Commander # 267 for sale. I just shipped her from Buffalo N.Y. to Sarasota Florida and I have decided to buy a bigger boat. She is in great shape for her age and has an atomic 6 inboard that is cooled by a heat exchanger. Completely original condition with a full sail inventory. Has the original porcelain toilet, brand new interior cushions, new lighting for interior. All the interior brightwork has been refinished last year. Original gelcoat is in great condition also. She needs just a good exterior cleaning and bottom paint. The boat comes with a custom cradle. I won't be putting her in the water for a few months so if you are interested please contact Jeff Zimmerman@ 716-906-4771 or jeff-zimmerman@hotmail.com.

Gallery / Wobbly has a new home!
April 18, 2015, 08:03:49 PM
Wobbly will be residing in Sarasota on the Manatee river next week as my wife and I fled the harshness of Buffalo N.Y. Having an atomic 4 inboard with a heat exchanger instead of being raw water cooled, are there any concerns that I should be aware of regarding saltwater use?
Also, while the mast is unstepped I would like to replace the main and jib halyards. any recommendations on the diameter of line that I should use? I have the original halyards with the wire terminal ends. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Technical / Battery placement
December 03, 2014, 11:28:35 AM
I have a question regarding the correct location for battery placement in my commander. I have an atomic four that takes up most of the space in engine compartment. any insight would be appreciated. Jeff

Would anyone have a used main that they would be interested in selling? I just found out that the main that came with Wobbly is not the right one. Please contact Jeff@ jeff-zimmerman@hotmail.com. I will have a new sail made this winter.

Technical / looking for mainsail dimensions
June 13, 2014, 12:56:30 PM
Thanks for the reply regarding mainsail measurements. Unfortunately, the main that came with the boat is a generic sail that is at least 2 feet short all the way around. I would be very interested in purchasing a used main from this forum and have a new sail made over the winter. Jeff

Technical / Questions regarding atomic engines
March 07, 2014, 04:34:52 PM
Just wondering how I can tell whether my atomic engine is raw water cooled. I have read some forums regarding this subject and am curious whether mine is. I purchased my boat at the end of the season last year and have no experience with this engine. Any input would be appreciated.

Gallery / mast base
February 19, 2014, 01:53:13 PM
I just returned from checking on my commander and noticed that the mast base seems to be cantilevered backwards- the compression post seems fine and there is no sign of any damage down below. I checked the mast with a level and it is perfectly plumb. Is this how the step is supposed to look?  Any comments will be appreciated. I have photos on my I-pad- just have to figure how to upload them to this site.

Gallery / Roller Furling
January 22, 2014, 07:31:02 PM
I would like to add a roller furling assembly on my commander. I am not familiar with the installation process. Also does the jib need to be modified? any advice would be appreciated. Jeff Z. Wobbly

thanks for the response, Regarding the j-24, you are so right regarding the comfort level. having the traveler right in the middle of the cockpit was terrible with the boom chin level a
nd ready to hit you without warning. I have yet to sail the commander so I don't know how it will feel. I cannot wait until next summer to find out. Jeff

Gallery / weights in sump
December 04, 2013, 08:13:32 AM
While I was inspecting the sump in my Commander, I noticed triangle shaped weights with a large eye hook imbedded in what looks to be cast iron. Should these be in there? Jeff Z. "Wobbly"

Thanks! it is refreshing having a color other than white for a change. Not sure if it is original though. the shine is amazing. Perhaps being stored indoors most of its life prevented fading. Good luck repairing your coamings this winter. Jeff
