Bob...thank you for taking & sharing the photos of the Ariel.
A bit more of a project than I had in mind...but pretty amazing how beautiful the hull can look even on a boat in such rough shape.

Do boat stands come with boat ?
Is the boat in an area where a boat trailer/truck can be backed up under it ?
Could you please send a photo.
Send to gil@towndock.net

Please tell me about the Pearson.  Still available ? What repairs does she need ? Does she have rigging, mast, boom etc ?  Sails ? Outboard engine ?
When was she last in the water ?  Anything you can tell me would help.
Thank you in advance.

General/Off-Topic / Ariel Spirit

Well, I am not buying Ariel spirit. She is on the move further from me and it is just not going to work out. While looking into shipping the boat this morning I discovered another boat that interests me...so life goes on. My heartfelt thanks to Capt. Craig
and the boats owner for being so patient and trying to help me work things out.
Someone in the Florida pan handle will get a great little boat.

I did some looking around and it seems that Pearson Corp. offices were in Portsmouth even when they were building boats in Bristol. I will have to find out why the owner believes the the boat is hull #3.

I will let you know what happens. I am now in negotiations with the owner and we may have an agreement soon...I hope. Why would they change the town name on the makers plate? Is that a typical new plate that you have seen on other boats ?
Also the boat is listed as hull #3 can I expect to find the year and hull number on the transom of a 1963 boat and if not, can you tell me where to look ?

Yes a ride. The owner is moving the boat from southern west coast out to the western part of the Florida panhandle. I almost bought her without seeing but...did not. I may be able to get to her for a look.  I just sent the owner an email to see if the boat was moved as planned. Thanks for sending the ad. There is fixer upper Ariel here in NC..but I want to sail now.

General/Off-Topic / Pearson Ariel WANTED
September 06, 2012, 08:24:54 AM
Well, I do wish to be kind to those selling boats so i will give this my best shot. The Meridian is a good boat and priced accordingly I guess. I have inquired about it and there are soft decks and quite a few issues to deal with. I really do not want a boat that needs major work. More in the market for a boat that has been pampered and then continue that care.  The Ariel in NY seemed very interesting despite that it is a 15 hour drive away and I have to add the cost of having the boat moved here. About 2K. When I told the owner that I was considering sailing the boat to NC he advised me against it and stated that he did not think that was a good idea ? He was not really clear on why it was a bad idea. When I have bought things where the deal did not seem quite right, it was never a good thing.  I am looking for the sailor that is ready to give up care of his beauty to someone with the skill level to maintain the boat carefully. A dream purchase ? Perhaps. But then sailors have a tendency to do that kind of dreaming, no ?
