Hello Everyone,  a good friend of mine from NJ is looking to purchase a Commander, preferably in the Northeast.

Thanks,

Fritz

Welcome Commander-275!  Wish you the best of luck with the new boat.  I bought Commander #3 about 4 years ago,  having a lot of fun working and sailing it.  Your #275 is ringing a bell, did you buy that boat in Manasquan, NJ by any chance?  If so, I tried to buy that boat but it didn't work out.

I also agree with Skipperjer's advice.

General/Off-Topic / Source for replacement chainplates?
February 12, 2016, 06:47:04 PM
I purchased 7 new ss chainplates from Chainplates Express in Texas - http://chainplatesexpress.com/

They did a great job.  However, they do not make 3/16" thick.  I ordered 1/4" thick and paid about $560.00 for them.  I sent them my old ones and they made the new ones exactly as requested.  Good Luck!

Speaking of oldest which are still active, I own Commander #3.  I think Commander #5 is in Maryland.

Gallery / Keel Void
November 28, 2015, 03:26:58 PM

The past couple of years I noticed a weeping keel when the boat was hauled in October, which really bothered me.  After reading through the various posts on this forum, I decided to take the plunge (literally) and dig out the old foam from the keel.  Tough job but finished up today.  I will have a light shining in the keel for the next four months to dry it all out.  My plan is to add epoxy/fiberglass around the rudder shoe as well as the rudder strap pins followed by either epoxy foam or a high density polyurethane foam.

Thanks to all of the input on this site which guided me to take the appropriate corrective action to remedy this problem.

Hi Kyle,

Thanks for your efforts.  I'll probably use my old one, which isn't in bad shape.  Just needs a little sealing and paint.

Thanks, Kyle.

No pressure on my end.  My old one is repairable but a new aluminum one would be nice.

Hello Kyle,

I'm interested in a Commander mast step.  Is this something your C&C guy can help me with since he already has the set up?  Thanks in advance for your help.

I lent my boat to some lady friends to sail a fundraiser race titled "Women Raising Sails for a Cause" and they had a blast.  The race took place on the Metedeconk River in NJ (north end of Barnegat Bay).  Many compliments were received on the boat.

They are crossing the finish in this photo!
