General/Off-Topic / roller furling

Kay Marie (A#400) has an Alado furler. I am not sure of the model - I guess the second size that costs $780.00, I can try and figure it out this weekend. It works well for the price and I like that it has twin integral halyard sheaves with no swivels. Here's the web site: http://www.aladous.com/index.htm

More pictures after 5 months of weekends. Bow pulpit, safety stanchions and life lines added as well as new lights, strongback reinforcement (ugly and will be hidden under mahogany) and a new headstay.

Technical / Curtain Tracks

A-400 restoration is progressing: new head stay, lights, Windex, VHF antenna, bow pulpit (from a 1973 Catalina 27), stanchions and life lines, strongback reinforcement. So now she is ready to sail! Unofficial new name is "Kay Marie". I am now thinking about the interior, particularly window coverings. The curtain tracks are undamaged ('C' section metal). Does anyone know if suitable sliders are available?

Many thanks

Just found out that the logo says the sail is from a Com-Pac 27 so I am assuming it is quite recent.

Technical / Origin of Mainsail A400

Curious if anyone can identify the source of the mainsail on Ariel #400.  The logo is a 'C' with three inward pointing arrowheads and a '27'.

Thanks,

Ariel #400 (still no name) will be launched tomorrow (February 1). The rudder has been rebuilt and the bottom painted. I have also reconditioned the Tohatsu 5 hp 2 stroke O/B. The hull needs repainting but I want to get sailing!

Too Late!
Two people before me - both from San Francisco!

Guess I'll just build my own.

Thanks for the lead.

Technical / Bow Pullpit
January 14, 2010, 11:54:05 AM
I have searched the forum and found much discussion on pushpits but nothing in the last 4 years on pulpits. My Ariel #400 has a single rail pushpit and lifelines but no pulpit. For mooring and anchoring, I would be much happier with rails up front! Does anyone have any current suggestions on the most cost effective solution to a pulpit.  I am in Southern California.

Many thanks,

My name is Paul and I live in Oxnard, Southern California. I have just taken over the care of #400.  She has no name as yet. I was looking for a 24 - 27 ft older boat to return to sailing after many years of power. I looked at Catalinas, Columbias a Lancer and even a Schock Santana.  Then I saw #400 tied up at a local boat yard, looking for a new home and that was that! So far I am still taking inventory of the projects but here she is at the survey.
