Mike, aka Commander227,

I meant no disrespect when I singled out Chance above -- you definitely did a lot of work, too, and took Ceili into the end zone!  What beautiful results!

Chance -- Happy New Year!

I was doing a little surfing and found your posts on the Ariel site detailing all the work you did on Ceili, and all I can say is Wow!

You did so much, and so painstakingly.  Someone ended up with a very nice boat, indeed, and I am humbled -- she never would have received that much attention if we still owned her since we have neither the resources nor the skills and knowledge . . . It must have been the definition of the "worst day/best day" saying about selling your boat . . .

Anyway, just wanted to say I really admired your work and it is clear that we sold Ceili to the right buyer.  We are tickled pink that at least for now she seems to continue to bear the name of our daughter!

Take care and good luck!

David

It is with a good bit of ambivalence that I announce this boat has been sold.

Don't be surprised if you see posts from me in the not too distant future looking for another Commander! -- they are, after all, the perfect boats in lots of ways.

Thanks for everyone's interest and support.

I've seen 2 examples of Classic Boat Shop's Pisces 21 at the Maine Boatbuilders Show in Portland.  These boats are flawless and beautiful -- museum pieces!  Someday . . . A boy can dream!

General/Off-Topic / Boat Hauler
June 20, 2004, 07:16:08 AM
You mentioned that you're looking for a hauler.  Last year I used Albert Montante of Go-Boats and he did a great job moving my Commander from Long island to Maine at a nice price.  Albert uses an F-350 with a trailer that rolls under your boat and slides it into place, versus the hydraulic set-up that lifts the boat up, if you follow me.  Anyway, the relatively low-tech arrangement is fine for a small sailboat like a Commander.

I wish I had his number, but I know he is based out of Florida and he works all up and down the eastern US.  Nice guy.

Good Luck!
