Have you tried advertising your boat on some of the free websites like http://www.sailboatlistings.com/ ?

Is there a Craig's list equivalent in Canada? Their dollar is stacking up pretty well against ours these days - maybe you'll find a better market up there?

Yes, I have placed it on that site. I wasn't aware of it. Thanks for the link. Craigslist does have a Canadan listing. I have had some Canuks inquire about it in the past, but no lookers.

Yes, someone else suggested just that. The problem is winter, the boat is covered and most likely has snow around it and on it. Also, for us it is a 2 hour drive to reach the boat. I would do a video if someone wants to see the boat now (us meeting them at the boat yard), but other than that it would have to wait until spring. Thanks for the suggestions.

Keep them coming.

Have a great day!

I appreciate all of your helpful comments. I did send an email to the Northeast Boat Rescue to see if he would be interested in coming to the Great Lakes.

Is there anyone with a trailer for a commander or ariel within maybe 500 miles that would be willing to help out in moving this boat? It was also suggested to me that I try to move it to an area that is more populated and possibly where it would sell better.

It is on the hard right now in Detour, MI (the far east part of the Upper peninsula of Mi).

I'm still relunctant to sell through ebay, but thought I would ask here if anyone has.

Hi Everyone,

Well, I still haven't sold this boat. We really need to sell it. Has anyone had any experience on selling a boat on Ebay?   I'm considering putting it up there. Any ideas or comments good or bad to selling on Ebay? (I'm not an ebay user).

Here is the new listing on Craigs list....

We can also except PayPal, Visa/MC/Discover/American Express for payment.

Thanks,

It is almost time to splash the boat in Northern Lake Huron.  Have you charted your course to the N. Channel for your summer cruise? ;)

Yes, I have had two serious inquiries, one made an offer, but wants us to finance balance.  Times are sure tough. I'm sure by spring, she will have sold.

Hi Everyone,

I haven't been on this board in ages, but that tells you why I'm putting up our Commander For Sale. :( We just don't have the time to sail anymore, so instead of it just sitting on the hard, it is time for someone else to enjoy this great classic plastic as we did.  A lot of wonderful cruising memories aboard her.  Here is the ad that I just posted on craigslist.

Sailing and Events / Get Better Soon
March 23, 2007, 06:33:26 AM
Peter,

I hope you get better soon. I haven't been around here much lately as my life has been very busy with our move.  If you need a sailing partner, I'm available. I'd love to go sailing with you again.   We now live only 3 miles from Lake Huron and a refuge marina is there for our boats. I hope to bring the commander there this summer.

Take Care!

Liz

Sailing and Events / Our Last Sail

We also went sailing for a couple of hours this past Sunday.  A beautiful, sunny, crisp fall day (the boat had frost on it), with wind around 15 knots.  No other recreational boats to be seen on the water, only a freighter going up river.  Had a nice beat up the river to Detour, MI, where we were lifted out on Monday!   :(   Now we have to go back to the boat and finish winterizing and covering the boat until next season.

General/Off-Topic / Cruising the N. Channel

Frank,
It sounds like a great cruise. We sail from the "other end" of the Channel (Drummond Island).  Duck Island?  I'll have to look that one up on the chart. We found Sanford Island was a great place to anchor.  Nice beach on the island. No rocks to dive from. (I wouldn't do that anyway, as I'm not crazy about heights).  Do you have any pics of your cruise?   :)

Gallery / Head installation & water tank conversion
August 11, 2005, 07:02:48 AM

I'm thinking of converting to a fresh water flush for the marine head. When the seawater sits in the lines it starts to get rank after awhile.

Is that what your flexible tank is for Liz?

No, we sail in freshwater, so it is pumped from the thru-hull.  The flexible tank is for drinking, cooking, washing, etc.  This weekend, if we make it to the boat (we have out of town company), I will take a picture of the tank.  Also, I can't remember where we ordered it from. I have all of that information on the boat. Boy, it really stinks when your memory starts to go.
