FYI - The board is being infiltrated by non-association related people who appear to be operating porn sites and who post links thereto. We are removing their posts and limiting their access, but they tend to re register using different E-mail addresses, etc., so it's an ongoing challenge.

These idiots with the persription drugs, pornsites, and hot stock tips are a scourge to humanity!!!

We were getting lots of that on the Yahoo CP owners list, and changed to a moderator-approved join basis. Requiring folks to write 2-3 sentences describing why they want to join/what their interest in A/C's is takes too much of the spammers time (besides the writing, they have to know the subject a bit to be believable).
Not wanting to block anyone out unnecessarily, I also kept a short form letter email handy that said basically "Tell me more before I approve...", for the ones who looked suspicious. I never once got one of those back. :) Worked like a charm. Most of the spammers will not bother to look at the email received at the address they use for initially signing on, after the initial approval email.
A real person will not mind taking a few moments to write back, especially if the letter indicates that it's purpose is to deter spammers.
Just an idea to contemplate.
