Title: need a new jib halyard block
Post by: willie on May 15, 2004, 08:50:52 PM
this is probably a no brainer for you guys, but i need a new jib halyard block. after looking at Defender, West whatever, etc., i'm a little overwhelmed with choices. Haven't found any info on what to replace the old bronze block and clevis with. It's about shot, clevis is about worn in- two, sheeve will almost turn. So how about it? Do i want a swivel? The old one doesn't swivel...;)

I'd use an ultra lite Garhauer block up there. (//www.garhauer.com)  Not sure it needs to swivel.

Thanks Bill!
Those blocks look pretty cool--no center pin, guaranteed 10 yrs! And good price. And west coast too! Might have to look into the hinged mast step set up also...

Think it needs the swivel, or it won't hang in the tang right.

Willie,

I replaced mine last year with a Garhauer swivel.  Works fine.
