I just saw this in the classified ads of the June 29, 2012 edition of the Sierra Sun, Truckee CA
Boat is at So. Lake Tahoe, CA. They are asking $3000 with a 6 horse 4-stroke OB
Is Jackie Philpott still looking for an Ariel? If so please let her know about this one. I'd look at for myself but I am already custodian of Ariel #100

-OK, I found Jackie's e-mail and forwarded it on to her
Thank you, everybody! I would definitely have gone to look at that Ariel, except that I bought a Cal 2-27 on June 1 right here in the Berkeley marina. And let me tell you all how very lucky you are to have such a tight organization. There ain't nuthin online about Cal 2-27s. Luckily the fella who sold me mine had every single manual for the boat and receipts going back 15 years, but I was so looking forward to buying my Ariel Association handbook. Anyway, if you all are ever on the Bay and see Dura Mater, mainsail #616, give a hail. regards, Jackie
Congrats on your Cal 27-2 purchase. That's a nice boat, faster than the Ariel. I had a Cal 27 original version before getting the Ariel. I liked it but was always worried that the pop-top would fall off. It weighed a ton and shifted quite a bit (2 inches or so) when heeling. The Cal 27-2 doesn't have the pop top, and it's ann improvement. However, we once took the pop top off and left it on the dock. It was a nice warm, calm day and made the cabin quite enjoyable.
