Title: Fairleads for mast or boom
Post by: commanderpete on January 12, 2009, 12:08:54 PM
Anybody know of a source for the fairlead in the first photo?

I'm not sure the Harken one would sit flat

Any other options?

That is a nice part. it looks like a close up of the Selden mast being installed on a Triton over on the Classic Plastic forum. i hope someone knows the actual vendor. Here is the nearest match i found (as of 1715 EST):

Product Description: SCHAEFER 78-75 HALYARD RESTRAINER

That Harken fairlead is the style that I've used for all the line coming off the spars and going back to the cabin top clutches. They come in a variety of sizes.

Thanks

Here's another picture of the Schaefer one

I'm thinking of something for the mast. The way the halyard gets caught on the wrong side of the steaming light has been aggravating me forever

For the boom, I just need something to clean up the reefing lines. I should probably consider what kind of dent it might leave in my head. Maybe a Harken or Holt Allen fairlead would be OK

i agree, the schaefer part would leave a dent in my head if it were installed in the boom... for that reason, i've been using a couple sail ties to tend to my reefing lines and outhaul on the boom. it's not as elegant but they are soft.
