Title: Slocum's Journey in GoogleEarth
Post by: Lucky Dawg on October 06, 2008, 10:30:10 AM
Stumbled upon this cool GoogleMaps entry of Slocom’s circumnavigation. 100+ waypoints and excerpts at each from the book:

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/download.php?Number=1201250&t=k&om=1 (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/download.php?Number=1201250&t=k&om=1)

More impressively, it can also be viewed in GoogleEarth http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=1201250 (http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=1201250) (click the link at the top of the post that reads "View in GoogleEarth") - requires download of GoogleEarth (http://pack.google.com/intl/en/integrated_eula.html?hl=en&ciint=ci_earth&ci_earth=onciint=ci_earth&utm_source=en-cdr-earth4&utm_medium=cdr&utm_campaign=en) , but if you don’t have it, it is a very cool, free program.

Note: there are also GoogleEarth versions out there for a fee - newer features and commercial applications, etc. Let me know if the above link doesn't point you to the free one. Looks right from here, but...
Title: Thanks Kyle

That's going to take some study but it looks pretty cool :)
