the way it's written it reads like the original main and jib are included in the sale
Title: price reduced

Price reduced to $1490. Sounds like they're getting rid of it for back storage fees. She's worth that in parts I'd think. Weren't before, but there are pictures now.

At what point was the (dunno what to call it) insert added to the forward end of the cockpit? Or is that an inboard thing? #74 that I surveyed was an inboard and didn't have it...

I have been watching this one for a while.  I haven't gone up to see it in person (I live in Newport) since my wife and I just had our second daughter.

The other problem is that I am a few months away from buying a house in Va Beach and moving down there.

ComNavWifeLant has green lighted the purchase of a boat once we are established down there.  Hopefully there will be a Commander looking for a new home at that time.

I have been watching this too.  I think you are right about the storage fees.  I e-mailed them but there was no reply.

Better call them on the phone.  The trailer will be more expensive than the boat's initial cost.

Unfortunately I would have to sell my current boat to purchase this one and there are three others at my club for sale now.

You probably mean the bridge deck. I don't know when it was added, my Commander has it (#274). Good safety feature to have!

In that it raises the sloshing-swamped-cockpit-water-into-the-cabin threshold, I presume?

Yeah, that's right, and it saved my bacon once already.
They started Commanders without them, (don't know about Ariels), but at some point thought better of it and started building them with the bridge deck.

Here (http://www.pearsonariel.org/discussion/showthread.php?t=1698) is a trailer for a reasonable price.
