Post by: Al Lorman on June 13, 2007, 09:12:15 PM
Listed on Craigslist, http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/boa/348510478.html

Asking $2,900 OBO, at $2,900 will include 6 horsepower Nissan long-shaft OB in excellent condition.

2 main sails, 1 working jib, 1 spinnaker w/pole

Located on the hard at Casa Rio Marina, in Mayo, Md...

And in the small world department, I'm pretty sure this is my old Commander, No. 26.

She's a beauty! Must be destiny. Come on Al, you know you could use a beautiful classic day sailor - again...

Everyone needs at least two boats, right? :D

The thought had crossed my mind, especially since she's had a nice paint job since I owned her.  Maybe I could get Tim to fix her up. ;-)

Well, of course it isn't; it's about 3' shorter.  You can't have everything.

I visited my former Commander on Sunday (I confirmed that she was mine).  Alas, she looks better in the photos.  She had been damaged in a storm a few years ago at the hull/deck joint.  While the damage has been repaired, it looks like Bondo applied with the palm of a hand.  Why someone went through the expense and effort of painting the hull without properly fairing it first is beyond me. Nonetheless, probably still worth the asking price.  After all, I bet she's the only Commnder in the world with Matella stanchions.

Yeah, but look at those wide uncluttered side decks on the Freedom  huh? huh?

A regular dance floor

I've gotten so used to not having stays that I'm not sure I could go back to a boat with them.  I crewed on a Sabre 402 recently and kept tripping on the stays.
