Title: Spinnaker Pole, Commander 131
Post by: jshisha on April 22, 2007, 09:12:10 PM
The spinnaker pole in the Commander I bought had not been used in 25 years.  I was able to get spring latches on the end to work and it is functional.  The aluminum pole is pitted and needs to be cleaned and eventually waxed.  Any suggestions on how to clean the pole and deal with teh grime and pot holes?

Thanks

Jake

You could take it off the boat and hit it with whatever household cleaners you have available. I wouldn't sand it, which would remove any anodizing that's left.

Cant do anything about the corrosion.

If you wanted to go to the trouble, you could sand it, fill the pitting, spray with zinc chromate primer and then spray it with rustoleum or similar.

I'd like to see that Spinny fly. Giddy up.
