Out for a Fall sail.... around 50 degrees, nice wind ...not too many sailing days left here this season in the Ottawa Valley, Canada :( (tried posting a picture...technically challenged !! )
We also went sailing for a couple of hours this past Sunday. A beautiful, sunny, crisp fall day (the boat had frost on it), with wind around 15 knots. No other recreational boats to be seen on the water, only a freighter going up river. Had a nice beat up the river to Detour, MI, where we were lifted out on Monday! :( Now we have to go back to the boat and finish winterizing and covering the boat until next season.
Frost , I'm still wearing short pants and running fans to cool the shop down !
It finally cooled off today , didn't get over 75 .
Our nice sailing weather is just beginning. Good by 95-100 degrees. Hello 75-85 degrees!
I'm looking forward to this weekend...the leaves are in full colour here in the Ottawa valley Canada...It has been a beautiful fall...cool is OK if the sun is out,the views are great and the wind is blowing.I know sailing here will end soon...we have frost the odd night...it usually snows in 2-3 weeks here. Back to Florida and #50 by mid Nov. to complete upgrades before taking her to the Bahamas.
The winds have settled down and the temps have raisen on the SF Bay. Now is the season for taking your spouse sailing -- because the rail will not be under water when going to weather. ;)

I checked with some poeple this weekend regarding the 2nd annual (attempt) Frost Bite Regatta. It seems they never made it out of the lounge-again.

That's a 135 Genoa. We usually get a nice steady breeze around here.
Except for the other night. Ended up far from home when the wind died. Checked the gas can...very little. Oops.
Motorsailed at low speed and then cut the engine whenever I felt a breath of wind. Took forever.
I did call the TowBoat company and asked for a fuel drop. They said the couldn't do that, but offered to tow me home.
I have towing insurance, but couldn't bear the indignity.
The logical solution would be to check the gas more frequently. Instead, I've decided that I'm entitled to have a light air sail---maybe an asymetrical spinnaker.
A friend of mine has a big nylon drifter which comes in handy sometimes

Beautiful pictures. Not nearly as balmy in the Pacific Northwest. BTW: How do you get people to take pictures of you and your craft? Just wondering.
Not easy getting pictures of your boat under sail.
I have friends with boats, and usually try to take a few shots of them. Hopefully, they will return the favor. I've given them disposable cameras to keep on board.

The quality of the picture really suffers when you reduce it enough to post on the internet. Not sure if you can do anything about that.
Anyway, boat comes out of the water on Saturday. But, its gonna be 68 degrees today, so we'll be sailing

Doesn't look it, but the NOAA buoy says it was blowing 18-23 kts. Double reef and half a Genny.

CPete, it seems like a unique opportunity to practice some "heavy weather" tactics! :p
Come on - we Northerners would love to see a sailing picture from December! You'd be famous.
